## The 10 Biggest Multi-Club Ownership Groups in World Football

Ownership Multi-Club Listicle 11 Oct 2026

Multi-club ownership has gone from a curiosity to the default model at the top of the game. These are the ten groups that matter most in 2026, and every club they control.

The scale is hard to overstate. According to UEFA's [European Club Finance and Investment Landscape 2025](https://cdn.vev.design/private/BtTnX3Tn4aZIHco9Lmn27s3YNbm2/1nsbp2-the-european-club-finance-and-investment-landscape-2025.pdf?ref=footballbusinessnews.com), 80% of Premier League clubs and 60% of Serie A clubs were part of a multi-club network last year. Law firm [Squire Patton Boggs](https://www.squirepattonboggs.com/media/fd3ad3zr/multi-club-ownership-the-rise-and-regulation-of-sport-s-portfolio-era.pdf?ref=footballbusinessnews.com)counts a fivefold rise in clubs inside these structures between 2015 and 2023\.

**80%** Premier League clubs in a multi-club network in 2025

**17%** All European top-division clubs in a network

**301** Clubs in MCO structures by 2023, up from 62 in 2015

**124** Multi-club groups by 2023, up from 25

Our ranking weighs the size of each portfolio against the commercial weight of its flagship club. Club lists reflect public ownership data as of October 2026\.

### 1\. City Football Group

The original and still the largest. Majority-owned by Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Mansour, CFG controls around ten clubs, including Manchester City, New York City FC, Melbourne City, Girona, Palermo, Bahia, Troyes, Lommel, Montevideo City Torque and Shenzhen Peng City. It has trimmed the edges lately, exiting Mumbai City in 2025 and Yokohama F. Marinos in 2026\. The current list is on [CFG's own site](https://www.cityfootballgroup.com/clubs?ref=footballbusinessnews.com).

### 2\. Red Bull

The most tightly branded network. Red Bull GmbH owns RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, feeder club FC Liefering, the New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Bragantino and RB Omiya Ardija in Japan. It has added minority stakes in Leeds United and Paris FC. UEFA first tested its multi-club rules on Leipzig and Salzburg in 2017, and the case still shapes how regulators treat these structures.

### 3\. BlueCo

Two clubs, but enormous financial weight. The Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital vehicle bought Chelsea for [$5.8 billion in 2022](https://frontofficesports.com/global-soccer-multi-club-ownership?ref=footballbusinessnews.com)and a controlling stake in Strasbourg a year later for $89 million. The network's pull on the smaller club was laid bare in January, when Chelsea [took head coach Liam Rosenior from Strasbourg](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c4g49xrjnxno?ref=footballbusinessnews.com).

### 4\. Qatar Sports Investments

Paris Saint-Germain is the centrepiece, alongside a stake in Portugal's SC Braga. QSI added Belgium's KAS Eupen in [December 2025](https://www.sportspro.com/news/finance-investment/qatar-sports-investments-qsi-kas-eupen-takeover-december-2025/?ref=footballbusinessnews.com), turning a single-club empire into a genuine network.

### 5\. INEOS

Jim Ratcliffe's chemicals group runs football at Manchester United, OGC Nice and Swiss side Lausanne-Sport, as listed on [INEOS Football](https://www.ineos.com/sports/football/?ref=footballbusinessnews.com). United and Nice were cleared to play in the same UEFA competition in 2024 only after governance changes.

**The rule every group is managing**UEFA bars clubs under the same "decisive influence" from playing in the same competition. Since 2024, groups can place shares in a blind trust as a temporary fix, which is how Manchester City and Girona both entered the 2024-25 Champions League.

### 6\. Black Knight Football Club

Bill Foley's group has built a four-club network around Bournemouth: Auckland FC in New Zealand, Moreirense in Portugal and Lorient in France, according to [AFC Bournemouth](https://www.afcb.co.uk/black-knight-football-club/?ref=footballbusinessnews.com).

### 7\. V Sports

The Aston Villa owners are expanding fast. Alongside Villa and Vitória Guimarães, the portfolio now includes Spain's Real Unión and France's FC Annecy, following a [deal completed in June 2026](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/v-sports-complete-next-move-34071878?ref=footballbusinessnews.com).

### 8\. Blitzer Global Football Holdings

David Blitzer has quietly assembled one of Europe's broadest portfolios: Brøndby, Estoril, Beveren, ADO Den Haag and Alcorcón, plus a stake in Crystal Palace. The Danish addition was [reported in 2022](https://sports.ksl.com/mls/real-salt-lake/david-blitzer-adds-danish-club-to-european-portfolio/495465?ref=footballbusinessnews.com).

### 9\. Tony Bloom

The Brighton owner holds Belgian title contender Union Saint-Gilloise, completed an [investment in Hearts](https://www.heartsfc.co.uk/blogs/news/tony-bloom-investment-complete?ref=footballbusinessnews.com)in 2025 and has backed Australia's Melbourne Victory. His data-led recruitment model runs across all four.

### 10\. Evangelos Marinakis

The Greek shipping magnate owns Olympiacos, Nottingham Forest and Portugal's Rio Ave. The [BBC examined his control structure](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/c7vl9dgvj82o?ref=footballbusinessnews.com)last year, after Forest and Olympiacos both qualified for European competition.

### The ones that slipped

**Eagle Football** John Textor's group, once spanning Lyon, Botafogo and Crystal Palace, was [placed into administration](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7152831/2026/03/27/john-textor-eagle-football-administration-crystal-palace?ref=footballbusinessnews.com) in March 2026.

**A-Cap (ex-777)** The lender that inherited 777 Partners' portfolio has exited Genoa, Standard Liège and Vasco da Gama, but still holds Hertha and Red Star.

**The Friedkin Group** The Roma owners are [exploring a sale of Everton](https://www.insideworldfootball.com/2026/10/09/freidkin-looks-for-everton-exit/?ref=footballbusinessnews.com), partly to avoid UEFA conflicts with Roma.

The direction is consistent: big networks are getting bigger, and overstretched ones are breaking up. Regulators are still deciding where the line sits.
